Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Charter and Guidelines Training

Dublin City Childcare Committee regularly offer Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Charter and Guideline training. The course consists of 15 hours training that must be completed in full in order to receive certificate of participation.

The purpose of the new Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Charter and Guidelines for Early Childhood Care and Education are intended to support and guide all those working in the early childhood care and education sector to explore, understand and develop inclusive practices for the benefit of all children and their families. It will also support service in implementing the new Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Charter in their services and guide participants in the development of an Inclusion Policy.

Visit DCCC Training page below to view all upcoming training.

Topics included in the Equality and Diversity training:

About Access and Inclusion Model (AIM)

The purpose of the new Inclusion Charter is to demonstrate the sector’s commitment to inclusion. Service providers are asked to sign-up to the Charter by completing an inclusion policy for their setting. For reference purposes, an Inclusion Policy template is contained within the Guidelines.

To support this process, updated Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Guidelines for Early Childhood Care and Education have been produced and each childcare service should have received a copy. We are now in a position to offer the national training programme on the Inclusion Charter and the Guidelines.

National Síolta Aistear Initiative Introductory and Awareness Raising Workshops

Dublin City Childcare Committee regularly offer Síolta Aistear Initiative Introductory and Awareness Raising Workshops.

The National Síolta Aistear Initiative was established in 2016 and is a collaboration between the Department of Education and Skills (DES), the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), Better Start National Early Years Quality Development and the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA).

The purpose of the NSAI is to support the implementation of our two National Frameworks-Síolta and Aistear.

The training consists of four 3 hour workshops, descriptions are listed below for each workshop.

About the workshops

Workshop 1: An Introduction to Síolta, Aistear and the Practice Guide

This introductory workshop is aimed at practitioners who would like to increase their understanding of and familiarity with Síolta, Aistear and the Practice Guide. Participants will have opportunities to consider how they are currently using Síolta, Aistear and the Practice Guide and how they might begin to explore them further.

Please note: This introductory workshop is a pre-requisite for the NSAI Aistear and Play CPD (delivered through Better Start Quality Development Service.)

Workshop 2, 3 and 4: Síolta Awareness Raising Workshops

3x workshops (3 hours each)

The Síolta Awareness Raising workshops aim to increase understanding, awareness and implementation of the 16 Síolta standards. Each of the three workshops focuses on a particular group of Síolta standards and through individual reflection, small and large group reflection and activities, participants will increase their understanding of and become more familiar with the range of Síolta standards.

It is recommended that participants would complete Part 1 & Part 2 within a reasonable timeframe.
