Who we are
The LCRS is one of five local childcare resource centres in the city of Dublin. We are based in Coolock, a neighbourhood within the Dublin City Council's North Central Administrative Area. The service operates under the auspices of the Northside Partnership. Our aim is to support and enhance the early childhood infrastructure in our catchment area, by improving the accessibility and quality of childcare places available and by enabling the continuous professional development of those working with children and families.
What we do
The Noth Central Area Local Childcare Resource Service aims to support both families and service providers by providing a contact point for parents and carers to access information and resources in relation to their childcare needs and by facilitating ongoing training to childminders and childcare workers in a range of areas. We also have a small library that is accessible by appointment to childcare workers, students and parents.
We participate in networks to promote the childcare agenda and seek to inform local and national policy, based on our experience with both service providers and parents.
We have an agreement with the Dublin North East Drugs Task Force to source childcare places for parents participating in drug rehabilitation programmes throughout the catchment area and a summer programme is also offered to support these families.
Our Vision
The LCRS will positively contribute to the building of a cohesive childcare infrastructure for the benefit of children and families across Dublin City Council's North Central Administrative Area, by developing and promoting quality, accessible and affordable early childhood services and initiatives.
